Changes to the North Carolina Healthcare Marketplace for 2017
Changes have been made to the North Carolina Healthcare Marketplace under the Affordable Care Act that will affect North Carolina citizens. Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) will now be the only health insurance provides in North Carolina for Open Enrollment. Additionally, customers who currently have insurance through the North Carolina Healthcare Exchange will be migrated to a comparable plan from BCBSNC unless they are currently using BSBCNC.
Open Enrollment for 2017 in the North Carolina Healthcare Exchange
Open Enrollment dates for health coverage in 2017 in the North Carolina Healthcare Exchange run from from November 1, 2016 to January 31, 2017. Customers may select the type of insurance plan they want from BCBSNC during this time. Customers will be unable to select new plans or make changes after this period unless a change occurs such as marriage or change in employment status. Failure to enroll during Open Enrollment and securing health care may result in penalties when taxes are filed for 2017.
