Open Enrollment in the Healthcare Marketplace is the time when individuals in North Carolina, and the rest of the country, can sign up for health insurance plans. For 2017, the open enrollment period starts from November 1st, 2016 and runs through January 31st, 2017.
Things are a little different this year because there will be only two providers participating in Open Enrollment, in North Carolina this year. The two providers will be Blue Cross Blue Shield NC (BCBSNC) and Cigna. Also, if you are currently on a Healthcare Marketplace plan that will not be participating in the Healthcare Marketplace in North Carolina, you will be mapped over, or migrated, to a new plan.

Individual Healthcare Plans During Open Enrollment
You can only enroll in the Market Place for health insurance during the Open Enrollment period. The only exception to this occurs when you have a major change in your life (such as marriage or the loss of a job). If you don’t have health coverage you may be subject to tax penalties at the end of the year.
